The results are in!
In October 2017, the library conducted a community survey to learn more about your experiences at the Wauconda Area Library and to ask for your feedback and suggestions.
We reached out to more than 10,000 Library District residents – both users and nonusers. We received an extraordinary response of more than 2,000 completed surveys, including more than 4,600 responses to open-ended questions. This greatly surpassed our expectations. Thank you!
Nearly half of the survey respondents use the library on a monthly basis and one-third visit weekly. The library received more than 2,500 very nice comments about the friendly and helpful service we provide, our programs and classes, the new children’s area and meeting rooms, and our various collections of books, audiobooks, DVDs, and music CDs, and much more. A large number of respondents noted that they consider the library a safe, welcoming space for the community to meet, study, or take advantage of the wide variety of programs and services available.
When prompted, “I wish the Library would…,” the most typical response was “Keep up the good work” or words to that effect. There were also many very useful suggestions for improvements. Most of these answers were related to increasing library hours, providing more quiet spaces for reading or studying, and adding even more programs, classes, books, movies, and online resources for all ages. Many respondents indicated they would like easier access from the parking lot to the front entrance of the library. Many hundreds of excellent suggestions will help us make plans for the future.
All respondents were asked to respond Agree or Disagree to the statement, "I believe Wauconda Area Library is essential to the community." We are very happy to report that 99.5 percent (2,096 of the 2,107 respondents) responded "Agree". Along with these responses, we also received nearly 500 heart-warming comments, for which we are most grateful. Our goal now is to have 100 percent in the Agree column!
Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. Your input has already helped us to better understand the needs of the communities we serve, and we will use your feedback to find ways that we can improve going forward.
