Have you been recently diagnosed with a condition or disease?  Are you confused by all the drug ads on tv?

Try these online resources for
Free & Reliable Consumer Health Information

Through the generosity of the Health Learning Centers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, you can now access their growing collection of online health databases and resources for free.

This includes medical encyclopedias, eBooks, webcasts, and free reference service on diseases, conditions, treatments, and related medical topics.  Information about upcoming community programs is also available.

Click here to begin searching Northwestern's Health Learning Center.

If you are confused by the drug ads on tv, try Consumer Reports online under the "Health" section.  While a subscription is needed to access some portions of their online, unbiased research findings, there is a wealth of information for free, including prescription drug information, price comparisons and ratings.  The AdWatch Video Series reports the facts behind all those drugs ads on tv.

The National Library of Medicine is also a great place to start searching for reliable, easy to understand health information.  Search for conditions, diseases, physicians, hospitals, and drug information.  The Current Health News section is updated daily while the Online Exhibitions and Digital Projects explore medicine throughout history and how it is being used today.
