We're carving out a good time for all ages this October.


Meet Local Mystery Author

Sandra Balzo
Friday, October 12 at 10 a.m.

Award-winning Wisconsin mystery writer, Sandra Balzo, will be at the Wauconda Area Library on Friday, October 12 at 10 a.m. to discuss her coffee house mystery, Uncommon Grounds.  Sandra will also discuss her writing experiences as well as give a sneak peek at her newest book, Grounds for Murder.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

About Uncommon Grounds

Uncommon Grounds was nominated for Best First Novel for both an Anthony Award and a Macavity Award in 2005.  The novel also received rave reviews from Publisher's Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, the Chicago Tribune, and Mystery Scene magazine.  For more information about this event, please contact the Adult Services Reference Desk at 847-526-6225 ext. 203.

Celebrate Teen Read Week this year by reading funny stuff or participating in library programs, just for the fun of it!

The Joke is on Us ~ Joke Competition

How do librarians like their pancakes?  In stacks.  LOL!!!  Teens can submit their best librarian joke for a chance to win a Barnes and Noble gift card.  Jokes will be displayed during Teen Read Week.  Entries are due by October 12.  For contest rules, click here.

LOL Open Mic Night

Teens are invited to stop by the library on Monday, October 15 at 7 p.m. to tell their best jokes, read favorite poems, sing or play music.  Refreshments will be served.

Join us for a

Preschool Halloween Party
Wednesday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m.

Preschoolers and their caregivers are encouraged to attend this popular annual event, which features musician, Will Fox, a parade of costumed children, snacks and take-home surprises!  Parents or caregivers must stay with their children to enjoy the fun.
