Watch It!

With the introduction of Web 2.0, it's easier than ever to view videos or look for pictures online.

By now, you've probably heard of YouTube for videos or Flickr for photos, but have you tried... - Selected by AlwaysOn Media as a top 100 award winner, Pixsy is a search engine that allows you to search millions of photos and videos all in one place.  Search current news, celebrities, sports, music, free stock photos, and more! - We've all heard the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words."  Search thousands of historical photos from the last 150 years of the struggles, triumphs, and defining moments that shaped our nation.

Digital Past - The North Suburban Library System works with local Illinois libraries and historical societies to digitize photographs, newspapers, postcards, oral histories, diaries, documents and movies.  Search your community or use their search engine to find photos of Bang's Lake, articles about Old Maud, and more.

Kids and the Internet?  Help!

Parents, if the thought of your child surfing the Internet for homework help or for fun has you feeling completely overwhelmed, check out the American Library Association's Great Web Sites for Kids.  They have compiled numerous websites to give whole families an enjoyable and educational online experience.

Search by subject area or by intended audience.  Have a science fair or biography project coming up?  Do you know someone interested in dinosaurs, zoos, music or sports?  Check out their recommendations.  Each website contains an audience indicator, which tells you if the website falls into the following categories: PreK, Elementary, Middle School or Parents/Teachers/Caregivers.

Don't miss our LEGO Event on Saturday, March 10th

Bring in your best original LEGO creation to be displayed in a LEGO showcase.  Prize drawings in three age categories:  Family, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12.  Stop by the Adult Services Reference Desk for details.
