Library Card Sign-Up Month a Smashing Success!

Library Card Sign-Up Month
a Smashing Success!

* More than 500 new library patrons
registered in September! *

* Special thanks to all of our partners
in the business community! *

September was the most successful Library Card Sign-Up Month in the history of the Wauconda Area Library!    This year, 531 new patrons were registered for library cards during this one-month period.  Hundreds more received replacement cards or keychain cards.

More than 110 participating businesses (click for entire list)throughout the library district offered discounts or freebies when their customers presented Wauconda Area Library cards during the month of September.

Drawings were held on Friday, October 1 for 38 lucky winners of prizes that were donated by some of the participating businesses.
Grand Prize winners each received a $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificate (4 categories - child, teen, adult and a lucky FlashScan user).  Special thanks to those businesses who contributed prizes for these drawings: Fantastic Sam's (free haircuts/style), The Golf Farm (free mini-golf certificates), Hoffman's Garden Center (beautiful mums), Papa Murphy's (free pizzas), Sunshine Flowers (2 kitchen utensil vases with spoons), SunSplash Tan Spa (free tanning sessions) and the Volo Auto Museum (free admissions).

Special thanks also to Culver's - they donated 500 free scoop or cone tokens and the tokens were given away daily at random to patrons at the Circulation Desk.

Now that you have your library card,
we want you to put it to good use!

Your library card is your ticket to opportunity!   What other card in your wallet gives you free access to books, CDs, movies and magazines and all sorts of other resources that can change your life or just make it a little more fun?

The library now owns more than 115,000 books, magazines, videos, and CD's, and we guarantee that you'll be glad you put your library card to good use.  If you need any help deciding what to check out, please let us know -- we're always happy to help!

For further information or to learn how to get a library card, please call the library at 847-526-6225 or visit http://www.wauclib.org/.  Better yet, come to the library to see whats new and how many ways you can take advantage of your library card it may well be the smartest thing you ever do!

Voter Registration Drive Also a Smashing Success!

A Record-Breaking Month for
Voter Registration at the Library!

The Wauconda Area Library set a new record for voter registration at the library during the month of September, accepting registrations from more than 500 voters.  The library has provided voter registration as a standard library service for many years, but we have never seen such an enthusiastic response before.

This year, the library participated in a statewide effort titled http://www.nsls.info/issues/VoterRegistration/.  The project was supported by the League of Women Voters of Illinois, the Illinois State Library and area libraries and library systems.
