Wauconda Area Library Local History Digitization ProjectMaterials Submission INVITATION & GUIDELINES |
What is digitization? It's simple! We are scanning (similar to photocopying) various types of pictures and documents so that the images can be preserved in computer-readable format. This process is absolutely harmless to all materials we scan.
The Wauconda Area Library welcomes and encourages everyone to participate in this Digitization Project. Please understand that not all materials submitted will necessarily be included in the digitized database, even if they meet the following requirements.Although the Wauconda Area Library does not accept responsibility for the security and safe-keeping of materials submitted for the Digitizing Project, every effort will be made to return materials to their owners as quickly as possible in the same condition in which they were submitted. All materials will be available for pickup at the library within one week of submission unless otherwise noted.
Please also understand that all materials submitted for this project will be returned to the person(s) submitting them. The library only needs to borrow the materials long enough to scan them. This process takes only about 10 minutes, but because there are so many items to scan, we might need to borrow the item(s) for up to 10 days.
Because the digitized Local History Collection is intended to serve as an archive of historical information and images related to the Wauconda Area, materials submitted for this project must meet the following requirements:
This project includes materials covering the history of the entire Wauconda Area served by the library, including all or parts of Wauconda, Island Lake, Volo, Fox River Valley Gardens, Lake Barrington, and unincorporated Wauconda Township.
