Interlibrary Loan Services
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service used to obtain materials (books, articles, and audiovisual items) not available at our library. The service is provided following policies and procedures agreed upon by the cooperating libraries. Materials are borrowed from libraries within the North Suburban Library System first, then other libraries in Illinois are searched. If necessary, the search may go out of state.
Interlibrary Loan requests may be made by phone or in person at the Reference desk, by e-mail or through the library's website. Wauconda Area Library cardholders may request up to five items through Interlibrary loan at one time.
Delivery time varies depending upon availability, so please plan ahead. Most items arrive within seven to ten working days, but others may take two weeks or more. There can be no guaranteed time for filling requests. Any requests not filled after 6 weeks will be cancelled. A repeat request for the same material will not be made for the same customer for 3 months after first receipt of the item.
You will be notified when your Interlibrary Loan materials arrive. A $1.00 fee per item will be imposed if the requested item is not picked up within ten days of notification.
Loan periods for ILL items vary and are set by the lending library. Overdue fees for Interlibrary Loan materials are $0.25 cents per day ($2.00 for videos). Interlibrary Loan items are not renewable.
According to Copyright Guidelines Section 108(g)(2) the library may not provide more than 5 requests for photocopies per calendar year from a periodical title (not issue) if those articles were published within the last 5 years.
Interlibrary Loan materials must be returned at the Wauconda Area Library only.
