Wauconda Receives
Governor's
Home
Town
Award!
Library
facilitates web-based Community Calendar with help of
the United Partnership for a Better Community
Wauconda
is the proud recipient of the 2004 Governor’s Home
Town Award. The
award formally recognizes the community improvement
efforts of the United
Partnership for a Better Community.
The Partnership was recognized not only because
of its achievements,
but also for its ability to bring a diverse group of
people together on a continuous basis to work towards
the common goal of improving life quality in the
Wauconda area.
The web-based
Community Calendar serves as a free resource for
everyone in the community who has access to the
Internet. Free
Internet access is available at the Wauconda Area
Library.
The Partnership has greatly facilitated the success of
the library's web-based
Community Calendar by improving the lines of
communication throughout the community.
The library, in turn, helps promote the meetings
and events of all participants by coordinating the
Community Calendar.
The online calendar is made possible by the library’s
participation in NorthStarNet,
an Internet-based community information network
comprised of more than 120 communities in the suburban
area, serving a total population of over 2 million.
NorthStarNet
is sponsored by the North
Suburban Library System.
