Community Calendar Instructions

The purposes of this calendar are...
  • To help people find out about public events in the Wauconda area.
  • To help local nonprofit organizations plan future events that won't conflict with other events.
  • To help local nonprofit organizations publicize their events.

How does my organization enter events? Do we have to come to the library?  Do we have to load software on a computer?

  • The program we use is totally web-based.  No software to load! You can enter and change events at any time from any computer that has access to the Internet. You can update your calendar from home, from work, or even from the library.

How hard is it to enter events?

  • Entering events is easy!   Entering each event takes about 30 seconds to 3 minutes, once you get the hang of it, depending on how much information you provide. And you can change events just as easily!
  • If you just wish to enter one or two special events within a 3-month period, just click here and provide the necessary information as indicated -- we'll then enter the event(s) ourselves!

Can anyone add or change events on my organization's calendar?

  • We will give you a login and password, and no one will be able to change your events without logging in with your unique login/password combo.

We already have a web page with our events listed.  Why should we go through all the work of  inputting the data again for your calendar?

  • Because our calendar is a community wide project that will bring new people to your site and to your programs.
  • Because your public events will be better attended if other event organizers see your listing and don't schedule competing events at the same time.
  • Because it's exciting to be part of a community project like this.

What kind of information do I need to enter on the calendar?

  • You will need to enter the name of the event, the time of the event, the place of the event, a description of the event, and a contact name and telephone number or email address, and some other data which is optional.

Does it cost anything to be a part of the community calendar?

  • No money.  Just a little of your time.

I'm interested in participating!  Who do I call to participate in the Community Calendar?

  • Call Tom Kern at 847-526-6225, ext. 209 or email him at tkern@wauclib.org to sign up for a calendar and get training.
