SUGGESTION BOX
February, 2000
1. Our family has really enjoyed the "Hallmark" videos and I was wondering if you would be purchasing more. |
Yes -- we will soon be purchasing more Hallmark titles! |
2. The Island of Dr. Moreau (DVD). Videos: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Hackers. |
We'll get these as they are available to us. |
3. Please have a staff favorites shelf for "busy" people who don't have a lot of time to look but still love to read fiction. |
Please check out the counter by the fiction stacks. This will be a permanent display which will feature different titles monthly. Also check out our bookcases found on the ends of the aisles. They feature fiction and non-fiction titles monthly. -AR |

4. The key chains are very convenient. It's nice to have the times listed and the number. I wouldn't have come today if it wasn't confirmed on my key chain. |
Thank you for taking the time to fill out this suggestion – we know patrons are using their keytags and appreciate the convenience. |
5. I think it's unwise to give all children the right to check out movies. Especially R rated. |
This policy is standard policy and is supported by the Library Bill of Rights. Most libraries now have this policy -- until recently, this library was one of the few exceptions. Experience shows that kids generally tend to check out age-appropriate videos -- not R-rated videos. We ask that parents play a role in how their children use the library -- this is why we have tried to inform all library patrons of this policy change. Please let us know if you experience any specific problems with this policy. |
6. Please extend your video return to 3 , 4, or 5 days. Two days isn't enough time to fit into my busy schedule. If you would do this, it would be very much appreciated! |
Effective February 1, 2000, all videos EXCEPT NEW releases are renewable one time. This means that you would be able to have a video for at least 4 days. Hope this helps you! |
7. (Reference Librarian) was a great help. Thank you. |
Thanks for taking the time to let us know! |
8. I offer to provide the library with a paid subscription to "Freethought Today". |
This periodical does not fit the profile of one to which this library typically subscribes -- no other public library in the North Suburban Library System subscribes to this title -- it is too obscure and esoteric. Thank you for your offer to pay for a subscription, but we choose not add this to our collection. Please note that many excerpts are available via the Internet at www.infidels.org/org/ffrf/fttoday. |
9. Allow the younger children to take books or even read them from the adult books upstairs. I have a child who can read books better than college grads. |
Children are allowed to check out books from any section of the library.
10. Get some books on drugs. |
Are you looking for medical reference sources? Can you please be more specific. We own several excellent medical reference titles that may be of use to you. |
11. Please get more books on the history of medicine (Hippocrates). |
We’ll be happy to order a couple books on the history of medicine. If you have any specific titles you would recommend, please stop by the reference desk. We’ll order them and place them on reserve for you! |
12. (Via website) I love the library, it is fun and informational! |
Thanks for the compliment! |
13. We enjoyed the "Game Sunday". Hope you'll have it more often. |
Thanks for the feedback. With all the positive feedback, we’ll definitely try it again! |
14. Jody Lynn Nye is a local writer here in the area. Why doesn't the library have more of her books? More large print mysteries please. |
We have ordered several of her books - they should arrive shortly. We have ordered Large Print mysteries by Faye Kellerman, Agatha Christie, Margaret Yorke, Martha Grimes, Lillian Jackson Braun, and others within the last few months. Can we put one on hold for you? If we are missing your favorites, please let us know. |
15. Computer classes on Microsoft Word, Access, Excel. |
Watch for the summer newsletter, we’ll be offering these classes then. |
16. The "Games on a Sunday Afternoon" was a great idea. We think you should have it more often, at least once a month. It is good for people to get together and get to know each other. The librarian who organized the day was great! |
We’ll definitely be doing this again, thanks to the great feedback we got! |
