1. (via web site) You have really great books, magazines and videos! I love the 8 ball on your web site. |
Thank you -- we aim to please! |
|
2. (via web site) We would be interested in the Library getting the Star Wars Insider magazine. |
We will consider this title. We generally subscribe to magazines, though, with a broader focus. |
|
3. (via web site) I would like to know why the Children's Department looks more like a daycare than a library? I bring my kids for some quiet time at the library and am teaching them library etiquette and when we get down here the place is always filled with toys, kids screaming, eating snacks and making a mess, climbing on the tables, and then their parents just leave and walk away from the mess. I have even brought my kids at night thinking it would be better, cleaner, and quieter, but it's not. Do the employees appreciate this? |
If the noise or activity level is distracting when you visit, please ask the librarian at the Reference Desk to intervene. We certainly want our patrons to be able to read and study in a comfortable environment. However, please keep in mind that the Children’s Department serves the needs of children from birth through age 12 – and that small children often explore and experience the library in a robust manner. |
|
4. I never seem to find any movies to my liking and I'd like to suggest some Christian-based novels to be stocked and a way to find them easier. I always bring my children and they never want to wait long enough for me to find some reading materials. |
Any specific suggestions for titles will be appreciated. We will take a better look at this area of our collection and try to make some improvements. |
|
5. I think the Library should have all the Harry Potter CDs and tapes. |
We have the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, on tape. The audio versions of books two and three are currently on order. Please call the Children’s Services department at 526-6225 ext. 212 if you would like to reserve one of these titles. |

6. I feel something should be done about the entrance to the library from Main Street. It is very abrupt and could damage vehicles as they drive over it. The library has been in this location for a long time and (this) should be smoothed out. |
You are right -- this curb is a nuisance! This problem will be corrected when the Village gives this entire section of Main Street an overhaul. Work will begin later this year. We have made it clear to the Village that this is curb has been a common complaint. We're looking forward to the coming improvements to Main Street. |
|
7. Please purchase the Billy Gilman CD "One Voice". You need more new YA books. People should not walk on the grass. Can you put up signs? How about bird feeders and birdbaths? Could you have movies at the library? Popcorn? |
The Billy Gilman CD has been purchased. Perhaps someday a courtyard behind the library will provide a good setting for a birdbath. We do plan to show movies at the library someday, but for now the library cannot afford to purchase the public viewing rights to the movies most people would like to see. Popcorn at the movies -- why not? We'll consider it when the time comes. |

8. Get more books! |
This is one of our main objectives at all times. The library's budget is limited. Because of a slowdown in revenue in recent years while costs are rising, the materials budget has taken a beating. The library is taking some important steps to correct this situation. |
|
9. You should have a picnic yard where the bench is outside. That would be beautiful and convenient for the people so they could eat outside and not have to go home to eat lunch. |
Great idea! Someday it is likely the library will have a courtyard for sitting outside and enjoying the library's natural setting and the beauty of the library's exterior design. For now, though, there are more essential needs for improving the usefulness of the library for everyone. |
|
10. Speed up the computer in the Children's Computer Room. It's getting slower and slower. |
Thank you for letting us know -- we'll get it fixed. |

11. 1.) Your parking lot is inappropriately located for convenience-sake, whether it's dark outdoors, or raining, snowing! The stairs (and ramp) are a difficult trek up and dangerous coming down. 2.) The beauty and splendor of the "forest-like area" in back should have been a focal point for all to see. 3.) The library is a sanctuary and the hours are shamefully few. It keeps elderly people, kids, and adults feeling busy with productive things to do. Just look at any Barnes & Nobel or Borders book store to see the incredible interest we have for learning and for positive things to do with our time. We shouldn't have to travel to far away libraries to work or read on Sundays. Kids need a place to go! In summary: 1.) Consider a canopy. The lot should be closer to the entrance; curved around the building front, not just where handicapped spaces are 2.) The back should be the front, as before - there is nature to be enjoyed. 3.) Lengthen days and hours. Give the community a place to be!! It's a positive! |
Thank you for your interest!
