SUGGESTION BOX
January, 2000
1. Why are you getting all the movies on DVD like Lake Placid. Please don't stop getting these movies on VHS too. |
We will always attempt to purchase both formats. Please understand that many movies are released in DVD format before they are available to use in VHS format in the "pre-viewed" market. We do not intend to stop purchasing VHS videos at all. Sorry for the delay -- we are at the mercy of the video stores! |
2. You have "senior coffees". How about non-senior coffees for adults? |
We do have several "Culture Club" programs that are open to anyone. These are the current version of "non-senior" coffees. However, we will consider other "coffee" groups in the future |
3. I suggest you have "Chronicles of Narnia" books (and erasers at the end of pencils)! |
The Chronicles of Narnia are available in both the Juvenile and Young Adult collections. If you are having trouble finding them, the librarians will be happy to assist you. If you need an eraser, you are welcome to borrow one at the Children’s Reference desk or the Adult Services Reference desk. |
4. (Via website) I was pleased to see my book "Hidden Talents", on your young adult reading list. Thanks. |
Great -- thanks for visiting our website! |
5. More scanners. Faster and more sophisticated printers. (The scanner at my home is literally 10x faster.) |
The scanner in the Electronic Reference Center is sufficient for the limited use that it receives from library patrons. The laser printers that we use on our network are extremely cost efficient because they allow direct printing from 2 workstations without taking up network resources. |
6. If you have something in the Professional section and you can't check it out, why is it in the system? Why have something like Front Page, for building web pages, not available to check out? How are you supposed to make good use of it here? At least get a copy for distribution! |
We will be happy to order this for you. Next time, feel free to come to the reference desk and speak with a reference librarian. We would have been delighted to order the item for the circulating collection and place a hold for you on the spot. PS |
7. Decorating and interior design [books]. You have old books from the 70's. Get rid of them. It's year 2000 or did you not realize that? |
You are absolutely right. We are in the midst of a project to weed out old titles and we will be ordering some new decorating books this spring. As in the above suggestion, please feel free to come and talk to us at the reference desk. Many times we can order some new books on the spot for you, and reserve them so that you will be the first person to get them! |
8. Please get these videos: Analyze This, Hall mark Hall of Fame, The Haunting (1999), The Out of Towners (1999), Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, more action movies, Heaven Can Wait, Far Side video. |
These movies will be purchased ASAP, depending on cost or on availability in the pre-viewed market. Thanks for your suggestions! |
9. Please extend the video rental time to at least one week (7 days). |
Effective February 1, our Circulation Policy allows patrons to renew videos 1 additional loan period, excluding the NEW videos. Therefore, your borrowing time for 1 video can be extended up to almost a week. There are quite a few videos in the library that have a loan period of 1 week – exercise videos, documentaries & travel, and some children’s videos. |
10. I have paid to be a Friend of the Library. The current Focus states: "Anyone who has checked out 500 items since the new building opened will automatically become a member and receive raffle entries for drawings, etc." I have read 750 books, however I have a Fremont card. I patronize Wauconda Library because … it is closer and more convenient. I would like to have the privilege of belonging to the Millennium Club 2000. |
Welcome to the Club! Generally, only Wauconda Area Library patrons are eligible. However, we are revising eligibility to include non-district residents who are members of the Friends of the Wauconda Area Library. You're right -- it makes perfect sense that you should be included -- thank you for your suggestion! |
11. You need more books on sound. And ancient China industry, gangs and gangs. |
If you have suggestions for the titles you would like to see the library purchase, stop by the reference desk and we’ll see what we can do. |
12. I suggest that you get more Simpson books. |
Will do -- thanks! |
13. Have more Harry Potter books. |
Even though we own multiple copies of all the Harry Potter titles, we will be purchasing a few more in order to fill patron requests. Please call the Children’s Services department to reserve the title of your choice! |
14. Move the tax forms back to the reference area where they have always been. By the stairs is a terrible place, too many children running around and difficult to ask for help with all the traffic. This was a bad move! |
The previous location of the tax form was problematic for several reasons. The new location accommodated everyone, including people who have children with them. We regret that it might be a little less convenient for some people without children, but we feel that the new location is more accommodating to more people. |
15. (via website) I would like to thank the librarian at the Reference Desk for helping me with my French report. Not only did she find good information in the books, but she also went above and beyond with helpful internet sites and pictures. |
Thank you for taking the time to let us know! |
