SUGGESTION BOX
December, 1999

1. Get some vending machines. Please! |
Vending machines are a possibility. Because of the issues and costs associated with spills and maintenance, and because there is not currently a space designed for such machines in this building, vending machines will be not be considered further until some time in the future. |
|
2. More pay phones for public. |
Use of the library's pay phone does not yet indicate the need for another one. We do track usage, though, and will add one when necessary. |
|
3. Any Titanic books! |
The library has many books about the Titanic in both the Adult and Children’s collections. If you need help finding them, the librarians will be happy to assist you. |
|
4.(Via website) Please get Tom Petty "Wildflowers" |
This compact disc has been ordered. |
|
5. I think you should have a form just like this, but it would be for saving endangered animals, and if they filled it out they would have to go to the front desk and give you some money so they can maybe save an endangered animal. |
The library purchases several books about endangered animals each year so that patrons can obtain up-to-date information about the status and needs of these creatures. Many of these books provide address information for people who would like to contribute to this cause. The library, however, cannot collect funds for this or any other special interest. |
|
6. It's too hot in the library. I come here a lot , it's always too hot! |
We hear from others that the building is too cold. Please understand that with a building this large, it is difficult to make the temperature comfortable for everyone -- we are always, trying, though. |
|
7. Get the movie "Life" and a lot of wrestling movies. |
Please be more specific. Who stars in this movie? If you are referring to "Life is Beautiful," we will purchase this as soon as it becomes available on the secondary video market. What are the titles of the wrestling movies you would like us to get? Please keep in mind that we generally try to meet certain standards in our movie selection. |
|
8. (Via website) During August, 1999, I suggested the library add "Freethought Today" to the newspaper/magazine display. The response was "We'll consider this title." What is the status of the consideration, as "Freethought Today" is apparently not available in the library? |
This periodical does not fit the profile of one to which this library typically subscribes. No other public library in the North Suburban Library System subscribes to this title -- it is a bit too obscure and esoteric. Because space and funding is limited, and because there are many titles which have priority over this one, we cannot add this to our collection. Please note that many excerpts are available via the Internet at www.infidels.org/org/ffrf/fttoday. |
|
9. I suggest music books for instruments (flute). |
Music books for specific instruments are simply too limited in scope for a public library this size. Such books are, however, available through interlibrary loan -- please ask our reference librarians for help. |
|
10. Since the second remake of Patricia Highsmith's book into a movie, would there be a demand for "The Talented Mr. Ripley"? The book, not the video. |
We do own a copy of this book in large print format. A regular print copy has been ordered. |
|
10. I would like to thank the management here for hiring quality personnel. |
Thank you!! |
|
12. (Via website) You should have people to answer personal questions for the teens. |
Please be more specific about what types of questions you are requesting. We do offer assistance to teens in many ways, such as research, helping them find the materials or information they need, or referring them to the appropriate resource for further professional assistance beyond our qualifications. |
