SUGGESTION BOX
September, 2002

1. I love the Ipac!!!  As well as all your services and personnel (especially!).

Thank you!  Our new web-based catalog is designed to make finding library materials easier and more fun.

2.  Love the new computers but where are the scanners?

We plan to add one scanner in October.  Please check back later in the month.

3.  Great selection of new books in the Children’s Department!  Also, the Children’s Department is so inviting and fun-looking.  Other libraries don’t compare.  Great job!

Thanks!

4.  I have noticed that many of your CDs and DVDs are scratched and thought perhaps a Disc Doctor may help you clean and repair them.

We have a Disc Doctor and another machine that cleans and sometimes repairs discs, but these are imperfect methods.  Unfortunately, we must sometimes replace damaged discs.

5.  Please get: “Edward Scissorhands”, “The New Guy”, A.S. Biatt’s audio unabridged “Possession”, “The Internet Weather”, “Skeleton Man”.

We will get these as we can find them at affordable prices.

6. Kids should be able to get key chain cards.  I lost mine because it isn’t attached to anything, so a key chain card would be easier to carry around.

Thank you for your suggestion – it is a possibility that in the future our policy could be changed.

7. We should be allowed to bring food in the library.

We are considering new guidelines regarding food and beverages in the library – please stay tuned.

8.  You need to get a new scanner.  At least one.  Those of us in Newswriting classes need it and can’t afford it.  We looked to you, and you didn’t provide.

Two scanners will be added later this month.  Sorry for the delay!

9.  I attended the decoupage plate craft.  What a terrific program!  The presenter did an awesome job.  Please keep offering these types of programs!

Thank you!  We plan to continue doing such programs and more!

10.  You need to find a different way to protect DVDs.  The magnetic strips and stickers cause the DVD to wobble in the player causing the movie to freeze, pixilated, etc.  We don’t have any problem with the DVDs that are double-sided, as no strips or stickers can be placed on either side.

Unfortunately, there is no better alternative to the way we protect DVD’s.  Some recorders will have problems, but most won’t.  We are always on the lookout for a better method, though.

11.  I just wanted to mention how pleasant in both appearance and personality your librarians are on a consistent basis.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.  Providing great customer service is always at the top of our list!

12.  Consider putting a small table in the bathrooms for bags, papers, books, etc.

We’ll look into it.

13.  Get new computer software to check out.

This is in process – do you have any recommendations?

14. I suggest that you take pictures of your display case.

Good idea – we’ll do this.
