SUGGESTION BOX

August, 2001

1. I would really appreciate some more "G" rated family videos. We voted for the referendum so we would love to see this area expand. Please!

You will see more videos in the Family section soon. Thanks for your votes!

2. The old classic "Little Rascals" would be great to have.

We have ordered some of these videos.

3. Can you please get "Animorphs" #49 and up?

We have ordered the new Animorphs.

4. Please get more Jackie Chan videos.

We have ordered several more of these videos.

5. We need more large print books. I was told when the referendum passed new ones would be added.

Since April, 49 new large print books have been added to the collection.

6. Please order the video "The Awful Truth" with Cary Grant.

This movie is now part of our video collection.

7. (via web site) I miss the Wauconda Library! At the end of May our family moved to California, and though the climate beats Illinois hands down, our new local library has made me realize how good we had it in Island Lake! We love the attitude of the staff at Wauconda's library and their overarching goal to get kids to love books, reading and learning. Going to the library was always so much fun for our kids and for their parents. The programs are excellent, well organized, motivating, and positive. The facility is beautiful, and the materials are still growing, I realize, but well chosen and in good shape, overall. I hope to make a difference in the library here, and am sure to base so many of my suggestions and goals on the excellent example in Wauconda.

Thank you so much!! We hope your new library serves you well -- they most certainly will appreciate any ideas or experiences you wish to share with them!

8. I suggest you get the movie "Enemy at the Gates, the war of Stalingrad. It's very good!

This movie has been purchased.

9. You should be able to hang up fliers whether it's for profit or not!

Thanks for your suggestion -- we'll consider it, but please keep in mind that we have limited display space for flyers.

10. I thought that the ladies working here were very helpful and courteous! I was in and out, fast and efficiently. Thank you.

We are happy to be of service! Thanks for your kind compliment.

11. Please!! Can't we teach people that the library is meant to be a quiet place? Or has that rule changed? Perhaps signs reminding parents to tell their children to be quiet in the library would remind them of the courtesy as well. (Downstairs it is expected to be louder.)

Public libraries in generally have become somewhat noisier in recent years for a variety of reasons. We plan to install doors next year to make our "Quiet Study Room" more quiet.

12. Have a recycle bin like by the computers, because a lot of papers are just garbage.

Okay -- good idea! Thanks.

13. More Muppets on TV please.

We'll order more. Thanks.
