1. (via web site) The due date for children's videos is too short. Five days is not long enough. Pleae make the loan time seven days. Thank you! |
The library recently increased the loan period on videos from two days to five in order to meet the needs of most users. If you find you need the videos for a slightly longer period, you can call the Circulation desk to renew the items for an additional five days (unless, of course, another patron has placed holds on any of the titles you have checked out.) |
|
2. (via web site) How can I access patron info on the web site? |
To access your own personal patron information: Be sure to have your library card handy and, from the library home page choose "Telnet Access to the Library Catalog". (Login: dial, Password: guest). At the first page of the library catalog, press "enter" to access the menu. On the menu, choose #11: Review patron record. Among the things you can see are how many and which items you currently have checked out and when they are due, any fines you have accumulated, and items that you have holds (reserves) on. |

3. Amateur radio plays an important role in community service with respect to emergency management and assistance to police and fire fighting services. I suggest that the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) magazine (QST) have a place in the Wauconda library. |
Thank you for making us aware of community interest in this publication. We are checking into adding this title to our periodicals holdings. |
|
4. You need high Internet access. |
Not sure what you mean. |
|
5. (via web site) Message type: Praise. Comment: You look like a great place. |
Thank you! Come visit us! |

6. The drop at Cotton Creek seems to cause overdue charges when an item is dropped off the day it is due, or cause items to be missing. This has happened to me a number of times. I hate to cause a confrontation at checkout, but when I know I returned something on time, I am not willing to pay a fine. I will willingly admit when I am late returning an item, I just do not like to be looked at accusingly or have comments made about checking my return slip (which I keep on my refrigerator). I am sorry for such a negative comment, but my visits lately have been negative. |
We apologize for the problems with your items returned at the Cotton Creek drop. We give a grace period of one day on all items returned in that drop, but apparently there is another problem. Hopefully this will not happen again, but if it does, please ask to speak to the Circulation Manager so we can pinpoint the problem. Once again, we apologize for any poor service on our part as we pride ourselves on our friendliness and customer service. We encourage you to use the drop if it is more convenient for you as this should not be a problem. |

7. Movies: Days of Wine and Roses, How to Murder Your Wife, The Fortune Cookie. |
These videos have been ordered. |
|
8. Where did you buy all of the X-Files videos? How did you get so many videos? |
These were probably purchased as a series from Borders in Crystal Lake or at Costco in Lake Zurich. |
|
9. Create an "old books" section as equally large and inviting as your "new books" which runs along the spectrum of holdings. Rotate some and keep others for their enduring quality to readers of every generation. |
Thank you for your interest in helping us highlight fine older books in our collection. In the past, we have utilized book displays to draw attention to books on various subjects and in different genre. We will be expanding the number of focus displays in the near future. We hope you enjoy these book displays as much as we enjoy creating them. PB |
|
10. Buy rap CDs: Nelly, Li'l Bow Bow, Li'l Romeo, R. Kelly, Li'l Kim. |
We'll consider these. |
|
11. I loved the Sensational Salsas (program). Please, please, more cooking classes! Thanks! |

Thanks for your kind compliment! |
|
13. I think this library is great! It has all the books you need, computers, and great movies, great, terrific librarians. It also has fun programs! |
We are happy to hear that you are pleased with our resources and services. Thank you! |
|
14. No charging ten cents for printouts. |
Sorry, but this fee is here to stay. The cost of paper, toner, and wear and tear on the printer justifies this fee. This fee is very typical of public libraries these days. |
|
15. What happened to the "Getting Ready for Kindergarten" class/get-together for kids? I'm not quite sure what the name was, but I thought it was a great idea! But this year I need it and it's not here! |
We decided to eliminate this program since the elementary schools annually host a "parent/kindergartner day" to welcome and orient the new students. Sorry! |
|
16. Get more CDs. Destiny's Children, Dream. |
Will do! Thank you! |
|
17. I think that you should have a pay phone downstairs and upstairs. |
We do have a pay phone upstairs in the front vestibule. We believe this should suffice, for now at least. Please let us know if someone is "hogging" the phone! |
|
18. Free movie rentals for two days. |
All movie "rentals" here are free! |
|
19. (via web site) You should put the summer reading list on your website for kids in school. |
Great idea -- we'll try to do this. |
|
20. Please order the series "All Creatures Great and Small" series 3 (James Herriott, six videos). |
Will do! Thank you! |
|
21. Have the Yellow Submarine movie. |
We will replace our long overdue copy. |
|
22. At the (web site) page, Jobs @ the Library, you should state the minimum age one can work there. |
Will do! |
