SUGGESTION BOX
April, 2001
1. Sell little pads of paper and/or pens. (Small source of revenue.) |
Vending machines are planned for the future. |
2. On the toddler board books, could you please cover the bar code stickers with the strong clear tape? This would prevent the little ones from tearing off the stickers. |
According to our Technical Services librarians, the adhesive used on the barcodes is very strong and makes the stickers quite difficult to remove. Conversely, the adhesive on the clear tape loses its grip after a while and peels off readily. If you find a board book with a loose barcode, please bring it to any public services desk and they will gladly forward it to our repair department! |
3. Complaint: Unable to save off internet. This forces printing or taking time to read. Very unsatisfactory. |
Agreed! We plan to correct this problem when the workstations are upgraded during the coming year. Some security issues will need to be resolved first. |
4. Lights for the front stairs. It is very dark and dangerous when leaving at night, especially for the elderly. |
This is planned. |
5. Please add these videos: Martin & Lewis movies, The Rainmaker (Tom Cruise), U-571, Major League, The Fight Club, Places in the Heart, Captain Ron, The Blue Lagoon, Ghost Story, The In-Laws, Criss-Cross, The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, Street Fighter, Elvis Presley Blue Hawaii, X-Files, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. |
Some of these videos have been purchased. Videos that we don't buy can be borrowed for you from other libraries. Please ask about our Interlibrary Loan service at the Reference Desk. |
6. Why do you have videos, DVD's, etc. but old, old, very old books? I put in a subject - 2 books from 1996! The library is in competition with local business. |
We are planning a major overhaul of the non-fiction collection. |
7. As past president of a homeowner's association, I am helping arrange our schedule of bi-monthly public meetings. Now that your tax referendum passed, it is hoped that you will drop the $25.00 use fee for a meeting room for use by not-for-profit organizations such as us. |
We will consider this at our May 14 Board meeting. |
8. Get the CDs Now 6, Eminem, and Grammy Nominees 2001. |
Will do -- thanks! |
9. Get more Amelia books and more new CDs. |
We have ordered duplicate copies of all the Amelia books. If the title that you want is checked out, please ask the Children’s librarian to reserve a copy for you! Also, be sure to visit the Children’s Department this summer – we will be kicking off a new collection of CD’s geared to the listening interests of middle school and junior high patrons! |
10. Get a new J-14 magazine. |
We have received the March, April, and May issues of this magazine, which is up-to-date. If you are having problems locating the one you are interested in, please ask one of our librarians for help. We'll be happy to assist you. |
11. "What Eric Knew" by Roald Dahl. |
We have ordered a copy of "What Eric Knew." You can call the Children’s Department (526-6225 x 212) or stop by the Children’s reference desk to place it on hold. |
12. I am a user of the audiobooks on tape. I like the unabridged versions the best. |
We are happy to have your input! Sometimes a book in demand isn't available unabridged; otherwise, our policy is to always buy the unabridged versions. |
13. (via web site) You really need to get new books to read and for research information and more web connections because you can't find everything on the web sites you have. Also you should keep old articles of things that happened in Wauconda, in the nation, and around the world. You need more computers because a lot of people need to use the computers. You need them upstairs and downstairs, mainly upstairs. Plus there is no point in having signs that say 10 cents for every printout because nobody ever pays the amount. You should also get scanners and Encarta and compant (sic) home library system. |
Most of these improvements are planned! Thanks to voter support, we will be able to afford these improvements next year. Thanks for your excellent suggestions! |
14. I voted for the library. I love the library and your helpful and friendly staff. No complaints. It pains me to say this. Your bathrooms (ladies) is dirty. I went home and used mine. What's wrong? Please clean! |
Sorry about that! We recently added two part-timers to our maintenance staff after having had vacant positions for several weeks. This should correct this problem. Please let us know whenever this happens! |
