SUGGESTION BOX
October, 1999

1. Offer a computer class on the following: Power Point, Access. |
We will definitely consider doing this for our Spring programming. |
|
2. Videos: The Nurse, Mafia, Polish Wedding, Extisten. |
We'll purchase these if available on the secondary market. |
|
3. My suggestion is a series called "Girls to the Rescue". |
We have ordered this series and it should be available for checkout within four weeks. Thanks for the recommendation! |
|
4.(Via website) The library website looks great! |
Thank you!! |
|
5. Longer hours for the public. More computers for public use "that don't freeze up"!!! |
Library hours were extended slightly in 1995. The next step will be to remain open on Sundays through the summer. This will be considered in April, 2000. The library recently upgraded its computers to be Y2K compliant. The various upgrades have caused several problems which are being resolved. We appreciate your patience! |
|
6. I would have stayed longer for more books, but it's incredibly hot in here! |
Sorry for your discomfort! Because of extreme fluctuations in weather at this time of year, the air system sometimes is not able to heat or cool fast enough to ensure a comfortable temperature. Generally speaking, though, we believe our air system works well. |
|
7. Need more large print mystery books. |
Thank you for the suggestion. We will look into this. Any author suggestions would be welcome. Also, keep checking the new book shelf for our new large print. |
|
8. Playstation video cartridges. |
Sorry -- the library will not establish a video game collection. |
|
9. I visit most of the libraries in the area on a regular basis. You have the nicest staff of any library! Keep up the great work! |
Thank you! Customer service with the personal touch is our Number One priority. |
|
10. More Christopher Moore books, if possible. |
We have ordered some of his older titles, so watch the new book shelf for them. |
|
11. We need comedies in books on tape. |
Do you have any specific titles you would like to see the library purchase? Please let us know. We would be happy to consider your suggestions. |
|
12. I would like to suggest getting another copy of Trash & Treasures. It is a very wanted book for garage sales. |
The new edition of the Trash or Treasure Buyer's Guide has been ordered. |
|
13. The video late fine is way too steep. I understand the need to jet videos back on time, but give us busy moms a break! I had three videos out and returned them one hour late the next day. My fine was $6.00. Couldn't you try to lower the fee and see what happens? … Also, I prefer the due date stamped in the book, not a computer print-out. This library is costing me too much money. My books were almost always returned on time when the old fashioned "stamp" method was employed. I'm not the only patron who feels this way. Progress in not always the better way. |
For your convenience, we offer date due slips at the Circulation desk, and this will enable you to write the due date in each book. Please make sure to request some of these your next visit. Since the videos are free to check out, we feel that the $2.00 per day fine is fair-but remember-you can drop the videos in any of the book drops BEFORE we open at 9:00 a.m. and your videos will not be late. Hope this information is helpful to you. |

14. I think that we should be able to check out the things we want with the number on the back of the card, and we don't have to pay a fine if we lose our card. |
All libraries charge a replacement fee for a lost card, as it takes staff time to enter the information into the computer. The fee also covers the cost of the cards and barcodes. |
|
15. I like this library because all the people here are nice and friendly. |
We like our library too because of all the nice people we work with, and we have so many wonderful patrons like you! |
|
16. (Via website) China Box the movie. |
If you are referring to the movie starring Jeremy Irons and Gong Li, we own it -- please look up under Chinese Box. |
|
17. Key chain library card is wonderful. Having the library hours always with me is a godsend -- I never miss a book! |
We have had many positive comments about the key chain cards. We’re glad the patrons like them, use them, AND they have useful information! |
