1. Tierani was great for the bedtime series. We loved her! |
Thanks for your kind comments! |
|
2. Please purchase: CDs: LinkinPark, Ten Years; DVDs: King Kong, 24 Season 3, Jeff Corwin, BBC Documentaries, Alias Season 2; books: Charlie Bone and the Castle of Mirrors, Babywise, New Decorating with Architectural Trimwork, Celebrating Home, Look & Find Batman, Maya & Miguel graphic novels; PS2 games. |
These are being considered for purchase. Thanks for the suggestions! |

3. I would really like to be able to access “Reference USA” from my home office computer. I have a small business and use “Reference USA”. I have to come to the library to use this. I have called around and Barrington offers this, as well as Lake Zurich (Ela). But not Wauconda. |
We are looking into the price of remote access for this service. |
|
4. We should have a time limit on the computers. No parents on children’s computers! |
Establishing time limits for computer usage is under consideration and will probably be implemented through a networked software application sometime next year. However, since parents must supervise their young children at the library, they need to have access to the computers in the Children’s department. |
|
5. I would like to see better “inspection” of DVDs returned to the library. We have been unable to watch some discs due to scratches, teeth marks, etc. It can be very frustrating! Thank you! |
We understand your frustration, but due to the large volume of CD’s and DVD’s that circulate, it is impossible for the Circulation staff to take each one out and look at both sides of every disc that comes and goes from the library. Maybe before you check out the CD’s or DVD’s you could take a quick peek at them to see if they look ok and if not, please bring it to the attention of the Circulation staff. We will be glad to send the disc to Technical Services to be cleaned and polished. Thank you. |

6. The Orson Scott Card series concerning “Ender’s Game” is catalogued to the Young Adult section. These books are somewhat violent, although not necessarily inappropriate. I’m concerned mostly because some are in Young Adult and others are in Adult. I’m not criticizing as much as pointing out a discrepancy. |
Enders Game is listed on the Wauconda High School’s Required Summer Reading Book List so the library owns several copies of it in the Young Adult Collection to support the high school’s choice. However, the Enders series appeals to multiple readership levels here and this is why you find it located in various areas of the collection. |
|
7. All Star Wars books should be in one location. They have many different authors. |
We own over 220 Star Wars titles which are located in both the Children’s and Adult Services Departments, as appropriate. |

8. Just this evening (11/15) my children and I were visiting the library. I was shocked at the acceptance of the noise level, disrespect of library materials (computers, books, play area) that the staff allowed. The middle school children were taking more than their allotted time on the computer and then little kids were sitting next to them and they would watch over them and try to get them off of the computer so they could take advantage of it. My question is: When did this type of behavior become acceptable? Why do we, the taxpayers, allow for these children (aged 9-12) to demonstrate this behavior to small children? Can anything be done to keep a more controlled area? |
On the evening of November 15th, the Children’s Services staff presented a p.j. storytime entitled, “Turkey Tales,” so the noise and activity levels in the department were elevated. With more and more families using the library in the evening, it can be difficult to access a computer downstairs and we understand your frustration. Please keep in mind that the Children’s department serves children from birth through fifth grade. Therefore, many children who are ages 9 -11 need to use and are entitled to use the computers in the Children’s department. |

9. The movie of “The Mask” has a PG rating and I feel some material may not be appropriate for children. |
Not sure what your point is. The purpose of the PG rating is to make clear exactly what you are saying:
PG:"Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children." This is a film which clearly needs to be examined or inquired into by parents before they let their children attend. The label PG plainly states that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, but the parent must make the decision. Parents are warned against sending their children, unseen and without inquiry, to PG-rated movies.
