SUGGESTION BOX

January, 2005

1. Give teens more things to do.	We already offer many programs for teens, and plan to increase programming in the coming year. We would greatly appreciate any specific suggestions for teen programming. We are also planning to establish a teen area in the library which will centralize the various materials which will be of interest to that age group.
2. Please purchase: Wisconsin Trails magazine, Jeepers Creepers 2, Alien vs. Predator, Everybody Loves Raymond Season 2, more National Geographic documentary DVDs.	These are being considered for purchase. More National Geographic purchases are already planned, along with a general increase in educational DVD purchases. Thanks for the suggestions!
3. I suggest there should be more books in this library and more books on Martin Luther King.	We are actively working on increasing and updating our book collection. If you have a suggestion for a specific book purchase, please stop by the Adult Services Reference Desk.
4. The Children’s Department does an excellent job. I have checked other programs at other libraries and they just don’t compare. Good job!	Thank you -- we appreciate your comments!
5. A kid’s checkout station with a short desk.	We do, in fact, plan to add a self-checkout station to the Children's area which would make it possible for you to check out materials there instead of having to do it upstairs. Please understand that these self-checkout stations are very costly and we have not yet been able to afford more than the one we have upstairs. Although we hope to add this during the coming fiscal year (2005/2006), this will depend on how our other plans are prioritized. If we do not add it during the coming year, we will probably add it the following year.
6. I have never seen a more thoughtful, beautifully displayed children’s library in my life. The librarians are terrific also! There is not one aspect of this library that is not totally impressive. Great job!	Thank you -- we appreciate your comments!
7. Put up near your fish tank a picture with the name (type) of fish it is. My son keeps asking me what type of fish they are.	We will do this soon – good idea!
8. I love this library. The librarians are very helpful and pleasant, but would you please place a sign near the computers so people will remember to be a little more quiet? Thank you!	Thanks for this suggestion. We try our best to monitor this area during busy times. We will look into added signage.

10. I would like to make a suggestion about the downstairs computers. It is not fair that just little kids can use those computers when the upstairs computers are really busy.	In order for the children using the Children’s Department to feel comfortable and safe, it is necessary that we limit the use of these workstations to children. We will gradually increase the number of computers available upstairs in order to alleviate this problem. In fact, please be aware that two laptops are available for in-library use for patrons who are at least 18 years of age.
11. How about some short-term parking for seniors. We’re not handicapped; we just don’t want to walk so far.	Unfortunately, we cannot permanently block off the nearby parking places for seniors. There are many library patrons who would benefit from such a privilege, such as people with babies or toddlers. In order to be fair to everyone, we must treat all age groups equally. The handicapped parking is a fair and understandable exception to that rule.

14. Get better teenage books. Be able to rent X-Box games.	We are always open to suggestions for new book purchases.

15. Please Purchase Roswell Season Two on DVD and the new Jessica Simpson CD called ReJoyce.	We’ll order these.
You have seasons 1 and 2 of *24 Hours* (perhaps the title is simply 24, I am not sure) on DVD. Those two are really good. How about getting the recently released Season 3? How about *Babylon* 5, too? Thanks.	We now have the third season of 24. We probably won't be getting the Babylon 5 TV series, since there are so many and the audience is very limited. We will purchase the movie series, though.
I have two small children and we enjoy your spacious area for fun: Including toys, stencils, animals and most enjoyable age appropriate puzzles and BOOKS!!! I would like to be able to check out our books on the ground floor instead of having to go to the "adult" level. Downstairs the kids can look at the fish tank or even play while I check out the books instead of possibly disturbing other patrons upstairs. Thank you for providing such a great environment for the little ones- it's a special treat for my kids to visit.
