SUGGESTION BOX

February, 2005

1.  Is there any way to get a remote drop-off at Robert Crown School?  It would make my library usage much more convenient and would increase it three fold.  I also loved the mother/daughter bracelet activity.  Thanks!

We’ll be considering additional locations for book returns in the coming fiscal year – thanks for your suggestion (and compliment)!

2.  Please purchase: Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio, Hall & Oates “Our Kind of Soul”, Linkin Park “Meteora” CDs; “Everybody Loves Raymond, Season 3”, “Private Parts”, “Alien vs. Predator”, Freddy vs. Jason” DVDs; more books on crochet; “”The Company of Cheerful Ladies” audiobook.

These are being considered for purchase.  Thanks for the suggestions!

3. Please consider having a check out downstairs.  It would be nice for parents to check out items while children are playing.  Thanks!

We do, in fact, plan to add a self-checkout station to the Children's area which would make it possible for you to check out materials there instead of having to do it upstairs.  Please understand that these self-checkout stations are very costly and we have not yet been able to afford more than the one we have upstairs.  Although we hope to add this during the coming fiscal year (2005/2006), this will depend on how our other plans are prioritized.

4.  Please teach Tai Chi.

We will look into this for a future program. Thanks for the idea!

5.  Have the Book Brunch over summer because it’s so much fun!  Thank you.

We’ve already made some special plans for the summer which we think you’ll enjoy just as much, but we do plan of resuming the Book Brunch Bunch this fall.

6.  Could the library possible plan a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry.  I would love it.  Especially when the “Science of the Human Body” is happening.

We have offered bus trips to various museums in the Chicago area.   We will consider this suggestion.  Thanks.

7. I was trying to type a sympathy card on the library web site for the Daily Herald and I had people talking loudly on both sides of me.  People have no respect for the library.  Why doesn’t the staff monitor the noise in the computer room?  It should be quiet!

We appreciate your observation.  We realize we have a noise problem in the Computer Resource Center at various times of the day and evening.  We will work harder to monitor the situation.

8.  I spend a lot of time in the Children’s Department as both a mother and a leader.  Would it be possible to have a computer terminal down here strictly to use for looking up items?  The computers are always in use – every single one of them.

YES – this is in the planning process and will be added in the coming fiscal year.

9.   Is there a way to know if an item is on a “hold status” in our account? (Fremont Library has a way of showing this!)  Can Wauconda too?

Yes we can!  Go to the Wauconda Area Library home page (www.wauclib.org) and click on “Library Catalog”.  Go to “Account Login” and enter your card number and PIN.  (If you don’t have a PIN, call the library to request one.)  In “Account Overview” there is a link for “Hold Requests”.  This will tell you what items you have placed holds on, and which items are waiting for you to pick up.
