SUGGESTION BOX

September, 2004

1. Shouldn’t there be a sign that requests cell phones to be turned off and not used?  There are some loud talkers.

The library’s policy is for cell phone discussion to take place in the lobby.   We try to monitor this as much as possible. There is a sign posted at the Adult Services Reference Desk.

2.  I loved using your Interlibrary Loan service.  I have purchased so many dissatisfying exercise videos in the past.  Now I view them here first before purchasing.

Inter-library loan is an invaluable service of libraries throughout the world.  We are glad you have found it useful.

3. You should make a YA movie department.

Thanks for your suggestion.  The present Young Adult area includes books, CD-ROMs, audio books, graphic novels, periodicals, and textbooks for teenagers.   We plan to develop the Young Adult Area and will consider your suggestion.

4. You could have a homework room for kids in grades 6-10.

The Adult Services Department has a Quiet Study Room that is used by students. SS

5.  Please purchase: Babylon 5, Happy Days, Super Troopers DVDs, Hank Zipster books, Outdoor Illinois magazine.

These are being considered for purchase.  Thanks for the suggestions!

6. Acrobat Reader is not available on computer for government records, i.e. Village of Wauconda newsletters, etc.

We will make certain that Acrobat Reader is installed on all workstations – thank you!

7.  Extend the drive-up drop box so it can be reached from a car.

We plan to correct this problem soon – a concrete contractor has been selected.  Thanks.

8.  It’s very nice that the library provides notary service.  I am very happy about this service.  Thank you!

We are glad we can provide public services, such as voter registration and notary services for our patrons.

9.  I just left another of your delightful activities and just had to say thank you.  I attended the Creative Crafting, grades 4-5 and plan on attending the whole series.  Well done!

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our crafts class.  We will be decorating wooden candleboxes in October and making gift soaps in November. Hope to see you there!

10.  Wauconda has more than 10,000 people.  You need to provide more computers for the public!!

The library is in the process of acquiring wireless laptop computers which will be available to patrons for in-library use.

11.  Thanks so much for Saturday voter registration.  Your folks make it so nice for voters – we’re so busy during the week.

You’re welcome!  We try to accommodate as many of our patrons as we can, and we feel it is important to provide these public services during all of the hours the library is open!

I just wanted to thank you for including me in your newsletter.  I found the staff picks section to be very helpful in trying to find my next book to read.  I really appreciate the time your staff took to read the books and provide a brief commentary.  The newsletter itself is really great and I look forward to receiving future issues.

Thank you very much – we appreciate the feedback!

Can you please purchase the movie "Anything Else" on DVD/VHS?  Thank-you.

This has been ordered in DVD format.  Thanks!

…I am particularly disappointed with the library's decision to show the film "Fahrenheit 911," on Thursday, October 28, just four days before the election…

After careful consideration, the showing of the film has been cancelled.  The library’s statement regarding this situation is available at our website and at the library.
Thank you.

My 9 year old son has just discovered the “Homework Help” site and loves it.  The tutors don’t give too much info-the kids still have to work at it-but guides them in the right direction.

Thanks for the feedback – we hope this new service gets a lot of use!  Here’s a link to it for those who haven’t heard about it yet: www.wauclib.org/tutor/tutor.htm

Congratulations on the Governors Hometown Award. Thanks for the link to the schools. We need the advertising!! We appreciate all that you do.

Thank you – we hope people will cut and paste and use this as a quick reference for school info!  We also congratulate all who contributed to the United Partnership for a Better Community!

This (e-News)  looks wonderful!  Great job!

Thanks – there will be many more!

Well done web site!

Thank you – we’ve been doing our best to improve it.
