SUGGESTION BOX

April, 2004

1. I love your library!  Best Children’s one around! Thank you!

Thanks – we hope you visit often!

2. Please move the disgusting comic display from the much too obvious area that it is in.  It is inappropriate for that type of garbage to be so accessible to small children.

“Graphic novels” are a relatively new trend in books appealing to teens.  The intention of this special display was to promote this teen-oriented collection in order to increase teens’ awareness of the collection.   The display has been relocated to the teen area.

3. How come we don’t have an April “Book Page” newsletter?

We probably ran out of issues.  We order 250 copies each month and place them in front of the Information and the Reference Desks.   Please feel free to call the Reference Desk and we can hold monthly issues for you.

4. Senior Hour is terrific. Wish it was every Friday.  One Friday bingo and other programs the other weeks.

Thanks, we are glad you enjoy Senior Coffee Hour.  We have a great line-up of programs to offer at the Senior Coffee Hours scheduled throughout the summer.  There are two more dates for games scheduled this summer—Monday, June 21, and Monday, August 16.  Both sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

5.  I like Bingo and Bunko.  Let’s play some more!

We are happy to offer two sessions this summer!  Please see the above response.

6. I am concerned that the lights are constricting the growth of the bush.

The library’s landscaper has assured us that it’s okay to leave the lights on through two winters, and then they will need to be removed and replaced the following winter.

7.  Thank you for having a pre-school reading/storytime.

One of the most delightful responsibilities of children’s librarianship is sharing fantastic picture books with preschoolers. We hope our efforts help them become eager readers and lifelong learners!

8.  Please try to get more Chip Hilton books.

We will add more titles to that series.  Thanks for the recommendation!

9.  I would like programs on family ancestry.

We are planning a program for the fall.

10.  Regarding Interlibrary Loans.  Is there a way to find out what was put on Interlibrary Loan and how many?

Yes there is.  Please ask at the Reference Desk.

11.  Wow!  Twisted Thursday was so much fun.  It was also very challenging.  It’s great for all ages.  I hope you play this game more often!

Glad you liked it!  This game and other games similar to it are offered for Young Adults at various times during the year.

12. We visited from Pennsylvania and thought the game for kids was great.  We look forward to next year when we can come out and try again.  I am taking the idea back to our local library.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our National Library Week festivities. Please visit whenever you come to town!

13.  I attended the “Fun Parent” program.  It was such a great program!  I purchased two books and now receive a parenting newsletter via e-mail.  I can not say enough how much I enjoy the programs the library has to offer … I am so grateful and proud to have such an awesome library in my home town! Thanks so much, and keep up the good work!

We’re happy to hear that the “Put the Fun Back in to Parenting” program was so well received!  We take great pleasure in providing programs that are informative, educational and entertaining as well.  We’re proud of our library too!

14.  Take the anti-American anti-troop support (Susan) Sarandon (poster) down!!  Put up local soldiers or veterans with books!  Don’t insult them by putting her up there!!

Whatever her politics, Susan Sarandon is to be commended for actively promoting public libraries and reading.  Her READ poster is appropriate in any public library.
