SUGGESTION BOX

May, 2003

1. Please put in a U.S. Mail box for outgoing mail.

We’ll ask the Post Office if they will do this – if so, we’ll consider it.

2.  New typewriter doesn’t work.

This has been fixed.

3.  I would like to see more large print books, especially the bestsellers.  Everyone can read them but not everyone can read small print.

We will be purchasing more Large Print books in the coming fiscal year, starting this summer.

4. The library is the best place to be.  I love the library!

Thank you!  Please visit often!

5.  The music CD “Most Wanted” system is totally inconvenient.  Make all CD checkouts the same amount of days.

We see your point, but please understand that if all materials could be checked out for three weeks, this would greatly limit the number of the most popular items available for checkout at any given time.

6.  I would like to see a limit put on movie rentals.  Too many people I see take advantage of them.  They take out a dozen new movies that can’t possibly be watched in the two-day period.  If not a limit on all movies, then how about on new movies?

We are considering placing a limit on the number of new videos and DVD’s patrons may check out, just as we do our Most Wanted CD’s.  We understand your frustration.

7.  You have the best staff ever; they’re so nice and friendly.  Thank you!

Thank you – we appreciate your kindness!

8.  I came in and the heat and smell was unbearable.  It was very unbearable to be here for even a short time.  Hope you get some air soon!

Unfortunately, we must wait each Spring and each Fall for the optimal day to switch our furnace/air conditioning on or off.  Unlike your home air system, we can only make this switch once per season.  If we switch on the air conditioning too soon, the library will feel too cold.  This year we had several unseasonably warm days before we could switch over to air conditioning.  This problem is typical of most large buildings.  We apologize for the temporary discomfort!

9.  Please acquire: “Scarface”, “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer”, “All That Heaven Allows”, Metallica CDs, and “Everyday Life in the Arab Middle East”.

These items have been Interlibrary Loaned or purchased.

10.  The Hotmail and Google sites should come up in English.  Someone obviously changed your computer settings.  Please correct the settings back to English.

We are well aware of this problem and are working on a solution.  Please be aware that the solution is not as simple as you might think.  Thank you for your patience.
