SUGGESTION BOX

September, 2000

1. Three days to hold a reserve book is too short a time to get back up to the library and pick it up.

This is the typical time period for most libraries. Please remember that while the book is waiting for you to pick it up someone else probably wants it and it's just going to waste -- we cannot afford that luxury.

2. Smoking should not be allowed in the entrance area!!

Agreed! We will review this with staff.

3. When I come into the library, everyone is so nice. The Reference Librarian was very supportive of me and the poetry I wrote. I wish all libraries were like yours. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for taking the time to write down your compliment!

4. "Streetfighter: the Movie" on VHS.

We'll consider it. We would be happy to Interlibrary Loan this video for you for now. Please ask at the Reference Desk.

5. Get color printers for ground (floor) internet computers.

There are color printers in the private computer labs in the Children’s Services department. Children through the age of 12 and the adults who accompany them to the library are welcome to use these labs provided that they have current Wauconda Area Library cards.

6. I just read a book called "A Snake Lover's Diary". It was really good, but I noticed your library doesn't have it and maybe you could try to get it.

We'll look into it. Thanks!

7. Is it absolutely necessary for the "gully" at your driveway entrance to be so deep? It would be a vast improvement if it were lessened.

This will be reconfigured within the coming year when the village revamps Main Street.

8. Acquire more books from Recorded Books, Inc. Far and away the best readers.

Thanks -- well do our best!

9. Purchase "The Hunted" and "The Patriot" videos.

We would be glad to interlibrary loan these videos for you. Please ask a librarian for assistance.

10. Buy newer movies in VHS format. Not many of us have DVD players.

DVD movies are very affordable. A new VHS movie can cost over $100 for one copy! The same movie in DVD will cost only $18. We must wait until VHS movies are offered in the "pre-viewed" market, when they cost $10 to $15.

11. I would gladly support the library referendum. However, I would really like an extension to one week lending on the videos and a $1.00 per day overdue charge.

We'll consider this -- this might work for all videos except NEW videos. Thanks for the suggestion!

12. Too noisy! Kids on cell phones!

Kids will be kids. Please let us know when you feel that they have overstepped their boundaries - we try to ensure quiet in several parts of the library.

13. I love it how you keep your library so organized and how good in shape your books are. I would like it if you got more kid movies.

Thank you -- we enjoy being of service to you! Our "kid movies" do have some gaps which we hope to fill as soon as we can afford to.
