| September is National Library
Card Sign-Up Month, and the Wauconda Area Library would like
EVERYONE to have a LIBRARY CARD! Last year, 531 new patrons were
registered for library cards. Hundreds more received
replacement cards or keychain cards.
This year, 120 participating businesses throughout the library district offer discounts or freebies when their customers present Wauconda Area Library cards during the month of September. |

we want
you to put it to good use!

Your library card is your ticket to
opportunity. What other card in your wallet gives you free
access to books, CD’s, movies and magazines and all sorts of other
resources that can change your life – or just make it a little more fun? The library now owns more than 120,000 books, magazines, videos, and CD's, and we guarantee that you'll be glad you put your library card to good use. If you need any help deciding what to check out, please let us know -- we're always happy to help! Any library district resident aged 5 years and up can get a library card at no cost, and lost cards will be replaced at no charge through September. New cardholders receive an orientation packet including a special library pen. This is the perfect time to get a new card, renew your expired card or replace your lost card. No lost card replacement fees will be charged during the month of September. Library patrons that come into the library and check out at least 10 items are eligible to win one of four $25 Barnes & Noble gift cards that will be given away October 3. Patrons that come into the library and check out three items on the FlashScan self check out machine will also have a chance to win a Barnes & Noble $25 gift card. Approximately 30 other raffle prizes will be given away October 3 for those patrons that use their library card during the month of September.

Saturday, September 24! The library invites EVERYONE to join our
“Library of the Year” celebration and expo. Throughout the
afternoon, starting at one o’clock, there will be loads of
entertainment, refreshments, prizes, and fun for all ages. This is the
library’s way of thanking the community for making it possible to
achieve so much in recent years. So much, in fact, that the library was
named “Library of the Year” earlier this year by the North
Suburban Library System, a consortium of 650 academic, public, school,
and special libraries in north suburban Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry
Counties.
